Pamukkale

Pamukkale, Located 20 kilometers from the town of Denizli in the Aegean region of Turkey, Pamukkale is one of the most interesting places in the world, justly famous not only for the entrancing beauty of its unique geological formations but also for its historical remains. The calcium oxide-rich waters flowing down the southern slope of Caldag located north of the ruins have, over the millennia, built up deposits of white travertine on the plateau thus fully justifying both the site's ancient name of Hierapolis (Holy City) and its modern one of Pamukkale (Cotton Castle)

Pamukkale is an extraordinary wonder of nature. The calceouse water rise from the ground at a temperature of 36,5 Celsius degrees and tumbles down the mountain from a height of 100 meters, forming a myriad of pools. Cream- colored stalactites are formed as the water overflows the pools, creating a breath – taking sight unequalled in the world. Water is the architect of this gleaming fairy – castle resembling cotton or spring which are recommended in the treatment of heart diseases, circulatory problems, high blood pressure, nervous disorders, rheumatism, eye and skin diseases, nervous and physical exhaustion, digestive maladies and nutritional disorders.

Turkish Bath

The tradition of the Turkish bath extends far back to a time before Turks had reached Anatolia. When the Turks arrived in Anatolia, they brought with them one bathing tradition. And were confronted with another. That of Romans and Byzantines, with certain local variants. The traditions merged, and with the addition of the Muslim concern for cleanliness and its concomitant respect for the uses of water, there arose an entirely new concept, that of the Turkish Bath. In time it became an institution, with its system of ineradicable customs.

For the Turkish bath was much more than just a place to cleanse the skin. It was intimately bound up with everyday life, a place where people of every rank and station, young and old, rich and poor, townsman or villager could come freely.
